The format gained widespread use in corporate environments for distributing ready-to-present slide decks, training materials, kiosk displays, and self-running presentations. One advantage is presentation-ready behavior — recipients can launch a PPS file and immediately begin presenting without navigating editing tools, reducing the chance of accidentally modifying content or revealing speaker notes. The auto-play capability is another strength for unattended scenarios: combined with automatic timing and looping features, PPS files power information kiosks, digital signage, and lobby displays that run continuously without operator interaction. While the newer PPSX format has superseded PPS for current workflows, the binary slideshow format remains encountered in archived corporate materials and legacy presentation libraries.
