FAP is the little-endian variant of the Ensoniq PARIS audio format. The PARIS DAW cannot import WMA natively, so converting to FAP is necessary to load audio into vintage PARIS sessions.
The Ensoniq PARIS workstation reads FAP natively. SoX supports FAP on all modern platforms, and some vintage audio archiving tools can also import and export the format.
Both are Ensoniq PARIS audio formats storing identical PCM data. FAP uses little-endian byte order while PAF uses big-endian. Choose the one matching your PARIS hardware configuration.
FAP stores uncompressed PCM, so the decoded WMA audio transfers without further lossy compression. The resulting file will be larger than the compressed WMA source but retains full decoded fidelity.
